Several BJC HealthCare facilities have earned Magnet® designation – the only facilities awarded this distinction in the St. Louis metro area: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Memorial Hospital Belleville, Memorial Hospital Shiloh, Missouri Baptist Medical Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Magnet designation was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center to designate health care organizations showing quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice.
BJC HealthCare’s Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine is the only cancer center in Missouri to be designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), earning an "exceptional" rating, NCI's highest accolade. Siteman also is listed among Becker's Hospital Review of the nation's great oncology programs
